Best Be2camp so far: Be2camp Brum 2010

Kids and The Big Society

The road to success as a social entrepreneur is never (and will never) be an easy one when your first consideration really is '"what's in it for the kids/community" rather than "will this pay for me to go on that nice Umbrian holiday this year". In fact, I rather think the other half has given up on me ever being profit driven. I guess that's how I'm measured, not in fiscal terms, but in how much I'm giving back to the community as a businesswoman.

Site Clean Up app now launched from SmartBuilder Software Ltd.

I presented a preview of our iPhone app Site Clean Up at Be2camp East. It is now available on iTunes and we have made of video of it working on a construction site which you can watch here. I heard Rob speak at the Collaboration Cafe Symposium back in March, and the way that his practice Axis Design involved the community in the design process is pretty exciting. It was a great talk, and I enjoyed having a beer with him afterwards, chatting about how he sees the future of the web become hyper-local. Interesting stuff.

My nomination for BE2Campstar is Rob Scott, John Lyall Architects

I started following Rob when I found him on Twitter, tweeting about A4E, Architects for Education.

Over the next few weeks/months, Rob followed the antics of COYO, and then started his own fascinating blog about the life of an architect which I often read, and so do many of the kids we work with. It's great to get inside an architects head, contrary to popular belief!, and I hope that other construction professionals will follow suit.

Thrilled to have been nominated by Woobius' Bob Leung last month. My be2campstar nomination for June goes to the Classofyourown school children at Abraham Moss School in Manchester.

I visited them last week to hear about their forthcoming trip to the States and to show them around StickyWorld.
