I don' t know about other attendees, but I thought
Be2camp Brum 2010 was the best event run to date.
Rob Annable and
Lorna Parsons deserve enormous credit for finding such a great venue, assembling such a good roster of speakers, and, it has to be said, helping co-ordinate the (eventual) arrival of not just one…

The road to success as a social entrepreneur is never (and will never) be an easy one when your first consideration really is '"what's in it for the kids/community" rather than "will this pay for me to go on that nice Umbrian holiday this year". In fact, I rather think the other half has given up on me ever being profit driven. I guess that's how I'm measured, not in fiscal terms, but in how much I'm giving back to the community as a businesswoman.
However, here's something quite extrao…

Having tuned in to the Big Society in the North event last night by twitter I was taken by the similarity of themes between the emerging big society movement and be2camp. (unconference, uses of social media, community engagement etc) And of course these is the influence that big society may well have…

I presented a preview of our iPhone app Site Clean Up at Be2camp East. It is now available on iTunes and we have made of video of it working on a construction site which you can watch here. This app is a marketing tool for our main SaaS offering which is in development but we also think it can save builders some money. http://bit.ly/a4QJ3B…

Be2camp friend Abdul Rahim, involved with the Urban Buzz project discussed at Be2camp 2008, has forwarded details of a business opportunity for suitably qualified individual(s): "one possibly an economist or economist-planner/geographer preferably with RTPI qualification, other possibly a financial analyst/chartered surveyor with site development feasibility expertise". For more details see this…

Thanks to Rob Annable (@eversion) for the be2campstar nomination. It was a tough choice to pick the next be2campstar, and for some reason the shortlist were all ladies!

I heard Rob speak at the
Collaboration Cafe Symposium back in March, and the way that his practice
Axis Design involved the community in the design process is pretty exciting. It was a great talk, and I enjoyed having a beer with him afterwards, chatting about how he sees the future of the web become hyper-local. Interesting stuff.

Whilst listening to
Paul Wilkinson recount the history of Be2Camp we were reminded on Thursday once again of how important the two complimentary aspects of be2camp are: the face-to-face meetings, and the community we have here online.
With this in mind I thought it would be useful to take some of the ideas we heard on Thursday in Chelmsford and bring them out into the ning site for a bit of

I started following Rob when I found him on Twitter, tweeting about A4E, Architects for Education.
Over the next few weeks/months, Rob followed the antics of COYO, and then started his own fascinating blog about the life of an architect which I often read, and so do many of the kids we work with. It's great to get inside an architects head, contrary to popular belief!, and I hope that other construction professionals will follow suit.
After meeting Rob in London

Thrilled to have been nominated by Woobius' Bob Leung last month. My be2campstar nomination for June goes to the Classofyourown school children at Abraham Moss School in Manchester.
I visited them last week to hear about their forthcoming trip to the States and to show them around StickyWorld. Whilst they are strictly not be2camp members as yet (lots of rules about under 13s and social media), Alison Watson of Classofyourown can represent them to nominate the be2campstar for next month.…
